Hello, there!

I’m Bernie Wright. I'm a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate in the State of Texas. My supervisor is Dr. Keith Cobern, LPC Supervisor. I’ve grown up in Dallas, Texas for most of my life, so I’m actually a Dallas Cowboys fan that lives in Texas. My dad is from New York and my mom is from Texas, so that's why my accent sounds mixed up. I love eating good food with good friends, playing games with my family, listening to worship music and video game soundtracks, and reading books about Christian living. I really enjoy my local church friends, and I’m thankful for our community of believers.

I’ve been married to my bride for 13 years and we four children ages 12 to newborn! My kids love screen time a little too much like their dad, but they love reading books like their mom, so I’m pretty sure they’ll turn out ok.

Growing up, I knew that I wanted a great marriage. But at some point, I realized that wasn't going to happen by just winging it. Statistically speaking, divorce rates were getting higher and two parent households were becoming rarer. To make a long story short, I was determined to find a better way.

I learned what the Bible had to say about God's relationship with us, and how often aspects of that relationship are reflected back in marriage. I read a lot of books from Christian and secular authors, studied marriage and family therapy, and ultimately learned that marriage is hard work, but it's good work. But with good work comes a great harvest.

Here's a great video that might show you a little bit more about what I'm talking about.

I believe in Christ-centered Cognitive Behavior Therapy that adds in bibliotherapy (books, journals, etc) and assessments to help gain perspective on your situation and implement a plan. CBT involves solving current and future problems by analyzing the situation and applying new skills and knowledge to grow and achieve goals. Bibliotherapy means that we'll use books, research, and other resources to help us add to your toolbox of skills.

My expertise is Christ-centric marriage and relationship counseling for clients and want that information from a Christian perspective and Biblical worldview. Many issues people face like anxiety, insecurity, anger, depression, forgiveness issues, and addiction cause issues with relationships. Any of those things could be bringing darkness to your life and your relationships, so I'm prepared to discuss it.
